Great news for all Grey's Anatomy fans out there. In wake of reports that a tentative agreement between striking scribes and big Hollywood executives is expected to be announced sometime this week, there's talk that production on the hit medical drama will resume in early March. The plan is to film four or five episodes that will air in April or May.
The information is courtesy of TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, who credits his Grey's Anatomy sources as the bearers of good news. The gossip guru also claims that a similar plan is being drawn for other ABC shows, including Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty and Brothers & Sisters. On the other hand, new series that have already received a full-season order – Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money and Samantha Who? – will most likely resume production over the summer.
The last new episode of Grey's Anatomy, entitled "Lay Your Hands on Me," aired on January 10, presenting a lot of possibilities for new and even old relationships to bloom. Derek (Patrick Dempsey) finally asked Rose (Lauren Stamile) out on a date, and Alex (Justin Chambers) and Izzie (Katherine Heigl) shared some tender moments that were enough to make viewers think that romance just might be in the cards once again for the two doctors.
While on the red carpet at this year's Screen Actors Guild Awards, Justin Chambers was asked about such possibility, to which he responded, "I think Alex has a deep longing for [Izzie]. He's not man enough to admit it, and he has a lot of issues to work out. Hopefully he'll get secure enough."
Speaking of "issues to work out," Chambers apparently has a share of his own, as the 37-year-old actor checked into the psych ward of the UCLA Medical Center on Monday, January 28. He did not stay in the facility for long, as he checked out two days later.
A representative for Justin Chambers, who is married with five children, said he was "exhausted and suffers from a sleeping disorder and went in voluntarily to get some help."
