SPRINGFIELD — A warming trend is predicted for next week.

What Live Doppler doesn't know is that it's because one of the hottest guys on TV, Clark County native Justin Chambers, is on his way back home.

The 1989 Southeastern High grad first will be the star of a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott.

A $50 plate will come with an opportunity for pictures and autographs, plus the chance to win autographed scrubs and "Grey's" merchandise at an auction.

Proceeds benefit Urban Light Ministries as well as Eyes Wide Open Worldwide, a Springfield-based children's photography project.

For tickets, call event

organizer Alyce Comer at (937) 605-4071.

About 300 tickets for the luncheon are available, but if you can't snag one, there's plenty of Alex Karev to go around.

Chambers later will meet fans from 5 to 7 p.m. at Springfield Ford, 5600 Urbana Road.

Admission is two canned goods or nonperishable items for Urban Light's food pantry.

Next week will mark the first time in almost three years Chambers has been home.

On his last visit, in 2005, he stopped by the Relay for Life.

"That show ('Grey's Anatomy') is so big. I'm talking mega-big," Comer said. "It makes it hard for him to come home."

But with a writers strike and production on most TV shows stalled, what else is a TV heartthrob to do?

This is for my girl Amy, cause I know her awesome hubby got her tickets!

SPRINGFIELD — As he walked by her table Thursday, Justin Chambers looked right at Christine Bensman. We're talking his eyes directly into hers.

Then the "Grey's Anatomy" hunk took it even further, greeting her like they were old pals.

Tragically, Bensman had a mouth full of salad.

"So embarrassing," the 39-year-old Waynesville homemaker declared afterward. "It's your moment to make an impression."

Being caught in mid-chew was the risk "Grey's Anatomy" fans took as they lunched in the same room as Chambers, the 1989 Southeastern High grad who plays Dr. Alex Karev on the show.

In his first trip home in almost three years, Chambers made himself available to local fans during a charity luncheon at the Courtyard by Marriott.

At 50 bucks a plate, and with proceeds going to Urban Light Ministries and Eyes Wide Open Worldwide, fans like Tabatha King were able to get up close to Dr. Alex.

"How would you describe it?" pondered King, a 1995 Southeastern graduate. "You see him on TV. You get butterflies in your stomach."

Attendance for the luncheon was around 165, and it drew not only fans, but family and friends who arguably don't get to see much of Chambers.

He was able to return home thanks to the writers strike — the last new episode of "Grey's Anatomy" aired Thursday night.

Then again, it's just not work that keeps him away. Married since 1994, Chambers has five children.

"I live in a bubble," he said. "It's work and family." But on Thursday at least, it was all about the fans.

Mom Pam Chambers presumably was just relieved her son could take care of his own autograph requests for a day.

She's always taking requests for signed photos of Justin — around 50 every month.

"It might take 30 days, but they always come through," she said. "It's just something small you can do to give back."

it was INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i will tell more later.

one funny note. an elderly woman sitting by me told him that the most memorable scene in the series for her was the one where he picks izzie up after denny has died. and he says, "oh yes, that was a great scene." and then he kind of laughs and says, " the thing is, katie is a big girl, and i have chicken legs, so after 50 takes my legs were just shaking!!!" it was SO funny!
