Brenneman knew 'Private Practice' would take off

When the "Grey's Anatomy" spin-off "Private Practice" hit the air, actress Amy Brennemen knew that the sunny medical drama was going to be a hit.
In an interview with TVGuide, Brenneman says "I kind of assumed it would be."
Brenneman plays Violet Turner, the Ocean Wellness Center's resident psychiatrist.
"When I was offered it in March, I thought long and hard -- not that I wasn't attracted to the project -- but I thought, I did a show for six years and this could likely be that kind of thing."
"Grey's Anatomy" creator Sondra Rhimes transplanted fan favourite Dr. Addison Shepherd (Kate Walsh) into "Private Practice" last fall. Rhimes now produces both shows.
When asked about her character's messy on-screen romance with Cooper Freedman (Paul Adelstein), Brennemen says it's complicated, but distinctively "Sondra."
"I don't know what's going to happen, but I think that they are never not intimate, so even when they are pretending to be in a huff, they're each other's best friends. That's what's so poignant about it," says Brenneman.
As for Addison and Dr. Pete Wilder (Tim Daly), Brennemen doesn't know where they are headed, but thinks her character will play a part in their romance.
"They're messed up," she says. "It's becoming clear that Pete has tons of issues, Violet and he have never been involved, nor do I think they will be, but his real intimacy is with her."
Brenneman quickly became a fan favorite for her role in the series "Judging Amy." In addition to earning multiple Emmy Award nominations for her portrayal of "Amy," Brenneman was also the Creator and Executive Producer for the series.
"Private Practice" airs Wednesday nights on CTV. Check your local listings for details.
