Will the show shut down after Christmas?

JUST IN: PATRICK DEMPSEY tells ET that his ABC hit "Grey's Anatomy" is not prepared for the pending Writers Guild of America strike.

While promoting his new film 'Enchanted,' he said, "We are not that far ahead. We have enough show to take us through Christmas, then we'll see if that's the end of the season."

When asked if Hollywood is looking at a virtual shutdown, he said we could be, and expressed deep concern for crew members and those in the Hollywood community living paycheck to paycheck.

Unless an agreement can be reached, the strike is expected to begin Monday.

thanks for that! so, they will have 12 epis done if the strike goes through . . .so, there is a chance that if it goes long, this season will have 12 epis, and will what disaster can that possibly mean for the merder fans? the gizzie fans? the fans in general?

well, unless the strike takes a year, there will definitely be a season 5. i am just wondering, if they do have to end this season prematurely, where will these storylines have to end. i hope it doesn't take too long, but the last strike went on for 22 weeks, which is over 5 months, that is a very long time and would be into April, and shooting stops in May i believe, so that would not leave much time for additional shows to the fourth season, however, it hopefully will not take that long.

It's sooo weird that our local media doesn't even report of the strike!

it was in 1988. it cost hollywood 500 million dollars in lost revenue.

i really hope it doesn't come to that, but i support the writers, i just hope both sides can be a little more flexible, as PD said, there are people who live paycheck to paycheck on the shows that depend on that money.

PATRICK Dempsey - known as Dr McDreamy by adoring female fans around the world - wants to hot up Australia's greatest motor race, the Bathurst 1000.

Dempsey, the star of the top-rating TV series, Grey's Anatomy, is a budding motor racing star in the US with a contract with Mazda.

The race car fanatic and regular on World's Sexiest Man lists says one of his dreams is to race at Bathurst against Australia's big guns, such as Craig Lowndes.

If Dempsey was to receive an invite, it would provide a worldwide marketing bonanza for the race and a boost in female viewers.

"I would love to do some racing down in Australia," Dempsey told AAP in an interview in Los Angeles to promote his new film, Enchanted, which has been the number one at the US box office the past two weeks.

"The Bathurst 1000 would be great to race in."

Dempsey is one of three drivers signed by US racing team, Hyper Sport, for the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series.

They race a Mazda RX-8 GT sponsored by beverage giant, SoBe.

"We are going to run the RX-8 at the 24 hour Daytona race," Dempsey, whose other goal is to compete in the 24 hour race at Le Mans, in France.

The greatest impediment to Dempsey's racing career has been his rise in Hollywood, with the Grey's Anatomy shooting schedule anchoring him in Los Angeles for most of the year.

It was in Grey's Anatomy where Dempsey's character earned the nickname, Dr McDreamy.

But with the screenwriter's strike dragging on in the US, the Grey's Anatomy set may soon shut down because of no new scripts, opening up Dempsey's schedule and a potential racing expedition to Australia.

As a kid my Dad used to drive us there all the time and take us for a spin around the track... If Paddy were there OMFG! so I am...
